What are Adaptogens?!

Adaptogens are non-toxic plants that help the body resist stressors such as physical, chemical or biological stress. These herbs and roots have been used for centuries in Chinese and Ayurvedic healing traditions.

Here are my top favorite adaptogens and links to get the products:

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that has a reputation for soothing the nervous system and helping with anxiety, fatigue, and stress. It is also used to support immune, endocrine, and reproductive systems. Great for postpartum in balancing hormones. Add to coffee or tea

Maca

Maca is a member of the cruciferous family, but it's considered a superfood due to its extra special properties with the endocrine system and fertility in both men and women. Also helps with immune system, increases energy. Add 1/2 tsp to your favorite tea or coffee

Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle is most commonly used to help strengthen the liver, by reducing free radicals, reduce inflammation in the skin, and boost the immune system. My favorite way to get this is via capsules or tea.

Chaga

Chaga is a mushroom rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, including, B-complex vitamins, Vitamin D, potassium, amino acids, fiber, copper, selenium, and zinc. My favorite brands are Four Sigmatics and Vimergy.

Licorice Root

Licorice Root is an antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. One of my favorite teas.

Dandelion root

Dandelion Root works to neutralize the harmful effects of free radicals.

Dandelions contain Beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage. The flower of the dandelion is also full of polyphenols, which are another type of antioxidant. Another one of my favorite teas. You can also get this is powder form and add to smoothies.

Spirulina

Spirulina has been referred to as a "superfood" for many years because it's packed with nutrients, vitamins, like vitamins B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3, B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folic acid), B12 , vitamin E, and vitamin K1 and K2, minerals such as potassium, chromium, copper, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and zinc. Very high in bioavailable iron, making it beneficial to those with anaemia or pregnancy, with reduced risk of constipation. It's also high in antioxidants, supporting longevity and a healthy immune system, and lastly helps remove heavy metals and alkalize body. Add 1 tsp to a smoothie

Barley Grass Juice

Barley Grass Juice can be considered a multivitamin. Great source of healthful phytonutrients, live bioactive enzymes and chlorophyll. It's packed with vitamins, minerals and amino acids that will help boost your immune system. High vitamin K for healthy teeth and bones, Twenty amino acids, making it a complete source of highly-absorbable plant-based protein, Helps regulate the bowels and detoxify heavy metals
